Multilateral Fund
Meeting of the Executive Committee

CONTEXT

The Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol (MLF) required a unique event identity for their bi-annual ExCom meetings over the next three years that was distinct from their brand guidelines. The two routes in the presentation explore new approaches to ozone in a fresh, impactful, and visionary way, showcasing the MLF’s efficiency and success in helping the people, flora and fauna that benefit from the Ozone layer being repaired.

Logo build-up for concept one, demonstrating a design that references the Montreal city logo alongside ozone molecules, paired with images of people affected by ozone depletion.

CONCEPT 1: THE EARTH’S INVISIBLE SHEILD

This route draws inspiration from the distinct geometric forms of the ozone molecule and the official Montreal logo, representing the ozone gas that must be safeguarded and the city where the landmark Montreal Protocol was signed.

By highlighting the interconnected relationships between nature, science, and humanity, this concept pays tribute to the collaborative spirit of the Montreal Protocol.

Souvenir lanyard and software-generated badge template design for concept one, using ozone molecule graphics to create a bright, playful pattern and image holders on the badges.
Concept one logo lock-up mocked up on a digital holding screen for the event, featuring the full event name.
Event welcome banner mock-up showing the Concept One graphic and photographic style, featuring dynamic use of ozone molecule graphics and photographic imagery, alongside clean, modern typography.
PowerPoint template layouts using the Concept One design, showing a series of title slides in different colour ways, with variations of the molecule graphic and image arrangements, alongside text slides, charts, and tables.
Logo build-up for concept two, using photography to show people affected by ozone depletion in their environments, alongside a circular typographic lock-up of the event name.

CONCEPT 2: PROTECTING LIFE ON EARTH

Using photography, this route juxtaposes human activities made possible by the ozone layer with the natural environment it protects, highlighting the critical role of the ozone layer, the Montreal Protocol, and the MLF in preserving this balance.

Examples for the presentation included the increase of crop yield for rice farmers in Asia, reducing cataracts in the elderly in urban areas of the United States, reducing skin cancer in Australasia and improving air quality in South America.

Digital event background mock-up for concept two, featuring full-screen aerial imagery of environments affected by ozone depletion.
Souvenir lanyard and software-generated badge template design for concept two, featuring a circular graphic pattern and the event name’s circular typographic lock-up in multiple colour ways.
Event welcome banner mock-up showing the Concept Two design, featuring full-screen aerial imagery of environments and people affected by ozone depletion.
PowerPoint template layouts using the Concept Two design, showing a series of title slides in different colour ways, with variations of images and circular graphic lock-ups, alongside text slides with image holders, charts, and tables.
